One 1 x 10 x 6' long rough sawn cedar board
One 3/4" x 4" x 7" long scrap piece of pine board
One 1/4" dia. x 7" long piece of dowel

Saw:
Table saw or circular saw, band saw, hand-held sabre saw

PAINTS/STAINS: Stain, paint, or leave natural. Use a high-quality polyurethane to seal and protect.
