This holiday project is easily made using boards salvaged from old shipping pallets, a little wire, one clear Acrylic Panel (#PLEXCL4) and two Wooden Half Balls (#HBAL15). See below for more information.
Using wood from recycled pallets just makes sense...not only do you save money making this original holiday display but you also help the environment by saving trees and keeping used pallets out of landfills.
Our full-size pattern includes complete instructions to make this Skeleton from reclaimed wood but rough fence boards, pine boards and even plywood can also be used. (Skeleton stands 64" tall)
Wood: Approx. two standard wood pallets
Places to find Pallets - Contact Local Companies that receive larger inventory items such as an Appliance Store, Garden Stores, Nurseries and Lumber Yards. Do a search on Craigslist.org using search words "Wooden Pallets" or "Pallets". Drive through the nearest Industrial Area.
Tools: Scroll Saw or Hand held jigsaw (sabre saw) with a non-chipping, scrolling blade, Tape Measure, Drill and 3/16" and 1/4" drill bits, Hammer and/or Nail Gun.

Nails - 1 box of finish nails 3/4" to 1" long.
Acrylic Panel - One 6-3/8" x 11-3/8" x 3/32" thick, clear (#PLEXCL4)
Wooden Half Balls - Two 1-1/2" dia. (#HBAL15)
Wire - 16 gauge x 20 ft roll, brass or copper

Sealer: High-grade, non-yellowing, semi-gloss UV protected project sealer (#POLYQT) for outdoor protection.
