Pallet Wood Mrs. Claus and Elf Pattern

Using wood from recycled pallets just makes sense...not only do you save money making this attractive display but you also help the environment by saving trees and keeping used pallets out of landfills.

This jolly Mrs Claus and Elf can both be painted using color washes that show off the character of the salvaged pallet boards or simply with solid colors. Our plans include full-size patterns and complete instructions. (up to 38" tall)

NOTE: Pine boards or low-cost fence boards can also be used to make this fun project in lieu of salvaged pallet boards.

Wood:
Approximately one (1) Standard Wood Pallet. The following are just a few suggestions that may help you find a source of free wood pallets in your area:
1) Contact local companies that receive larger inventory items such as appliance stores, garden stores, nurseries and lumber yards.
2) Do a search on the internet using search words "wooden pallets" or "pallets".
3) Drive through the nearest industrial area.
Parts/Hardware:
Required for displaying.
Stakes - Four 3/16" dia. x 11" long, steel (1 - #YS11)
Clamps - Eight 3/16" w/screws (1 pack - #YSC1)
Wire - 12 gauge x 20" long piece

Tools:
Hand held jigsaw (sabre saw) with a non-chipping, scrolling blade
Tape Measure
Drill and 1/16" drill bit
Hammer and/or Nail Gun.

Supplies:
Transfer paper (#CARB), pencil & clear tape.
Sand paper - medium & fine grits.
Paint brushes - 2" wide brush.
Exterior Wood Glue - (#GLUETB3).
