  This fun and attractive project makes a real statement, especially with the alternative arched canopy. I used clear treated pine with galvanized fasteners to hold up better in the weather than the recommended fir. The detailed, integrated plans covered all measurements and essentials, including shopping and cutting schedules, several full-size drawings, fifteen photographs, and even the profile for the scalloped canopy skirt. The project needs an odd-sized 1 5/16" boring bit, but I found one quickly on e-bay. The "lock nuts" for the pipe nipple bearings were a mystery until they showed up as conduit parts. Power tools useful for the project included a table saw, band saw, drill press, router, drum and stationary belt sanders,and drill. Highest recommendation for this beautiful, well-designed, stable, and surprisingly strong yard swing.
