FAQs

  • About Our Downloadable Patterns

Our downloadable patterns are formatted as 8..5x11 U.S. Letter size for home printing.  Commercial printing is strictly forbidden.  Only items that SKU numbers begin with "DL-" are sent by email as a PDF.  All others are wide format paper patterns that are mailed via U.S. Ground Advantage mail.

  • How We Mail Our Patterns

Most patterns are printed on wide format paper up to 36" wide.  These are folded to fit into a legal size envelope (13"x10").  Larger orders will be boxed along with any supplies ordered.  All orders are mailed using U.S. Ground Advantage and shipping charges are based on the weight of the package.  You can opt for expedited shipping or 2-day shipping by calling our toll-free number to place your order.  Canadian and International orders are shipped using GlobalPost which is processed through U.S. Customs before moving on to your country.  We do not ship to countries on the U.S. Sanctioned/Suspended/Restricted list or countries known for intellectual property theft. (Looking at you China).

  • Purchasing Online, By Phone, or By Mail

No matter how you make your purchase, please note that we do not ship on weekends.  Orders made from Friday morning through Sunday night are processed on Monday and shipped in the sequence of the order.  All mail leaves our facility by 12:30 pm Eastern Time.  Orders filled in the afternoon will likely be scanned into the post office the next day.

If sending your order by mail, our latest catalog provides an estimated cost of shipping at the back of the catalog.  We will not ship an order without full payment which includes shipping charges.

Canadian orders received by mail must be paid in US funds.  Canadian funds are not accepted.  If your check payment is not a US bank issued check, then you must mail in a cashier's check (cheque) or money order in U.S. funds.

  • About Our Item Numbers (SKUs)

You can tell a lot about the pattern you are ordering based on the SKU.  Here are a few examples:

  • Item numbers that begin with a "W" are Winfield patterns and are formatted with instructions the same way The Winfield Collection has always formatted the patterns.  This may include "Match Lines" or overlaps of different parts of the finished item.
  • Item numbers that end with SC are Scroller patterns.  These patterns were designed exclusively by Scroller and the Scroller staff at The Winfield Collection.  Other scrollsaw patterns may end with a different 2 letter combination.  These are the initials of the artist in which we provide a royalty.  i.e. Bruce Worthington patterns end in BW and all royalties go to his surviving spouse/family.
  • Item numbers that begin with Z are Sherwood patterns.  The Winfield Collection purchased the rights to the entire Sherwood catalog in 2015.  These paper patterns are designed differently from Winfield patterns by the original owners of Sherwood.

Of course there are other types of SKU/Item numbers we have listed as well, and not to mention all the supplies, but I wanted to add these few so you can understand why one pattern may not look like the other.

  • What happened to Meisel patterns?

Meisel (both patterns and hardware supply) closed their doors in or around October of 2023.  The copyrights of their patterns were not sold to any other entity that we are aware of and we can no longer purchase these patterns for sale.

  • Why Do We Charge For Catalogs Now?

We have been mailing catalogs to our customers for 41 years, but a lot has changed over the years.  First, we sent out a lot of catalogs to folks who never placed an order and were never interested in placing an order with us, also, there was no internet when the company started in 1984.  Second, the cost to produce and mail these catalogs has risen exponentially.  Last, but not least, everything we have available is right here on our website, where you are, right now.

  • If you place an order with us over the phone or by mail, you can request a free catalog with your order.
  • If you are not interested in making an order at this time, or ordering online, there is a charge of $3 which covers mailing costs.  Anyone that places an order for patterns, supplies, or a catalog, will remain on the mailing list for a minimum of one year.  (approximately 4 seasonal catalogs: Fall, Christmas, Spring and Summer.)
  • If have made an order and are receiving catalogs, but do not want/need a catalog.  Let us know by phone or email that you would like to be removed from the mailing list.
