Heirloom cradle

I was pleasantly surprised that the order was shipped in a timely manner. I had ordered the pattern as well as the dowels and hardware for two, since I knew of one Great Grandchild on the way and was hoping for my other grandaughter to have one as well. As it turned out she announced she was expecting in July so it worked out well. I found the plans and instructions very well put together and easy to follow. I should mention a couple of things though, you should drill your dowel holes prior to making the shapes. Just make sure the boards are wide enough to accept your pattern and then cut the pattern out after. The other item is getting the pocket hole screws in after you have attached the support blocks to the stringers, can't be done. Simply install the stringers prior to attaching the support blocks. Install a piece of 1/4 in the groove prior to installing your pocket screws and this will prevent creep into your groove for later installation of the 1/4" board. The project turned out extremely well and am looking forward to putting the other unit together. It is truly an Heirloom piece. Marty

Baby Cradle

The plans were very easy to follow and everything went right together as planned. Marty's suggestions about drilling and mounting the supports prior to installing the braces was a very big help. I found that when assembled the cradle rocked very smooth and with very little effort. When we first used the cradle our grandson had to wear a Billy Blanket and while wearing this he had to sleep on his side. When he fussed and moved the cradle would move and roll him into the side rail of cradle. I had to fabricate a piece to stop the rocking motion. I made a block that could be slipped over the stretcher and between the U shaped legs. Would suggest that a revision to the plans that would add a stop of some sort for people that may need to restrict the rocking motion.

I was worried about the cradle not aligning up with the stand but it fit perfectly. An easy to build project with a beautiful outcome. My Great-Granddaughter absolutely loves it.
